Mattocks Grindley: More About Us
Giles and Dave met while working within a top North-West accountancy practice. Over the past 10 years they have worked closely together, advising a range of businesses and individuals. Between them, they have nearly 30 years experience working within the accounting and tax profession.
After completing a Business Studies degree, Dave spent nine years with HMRC. After gaining wide experience of the UK tax system within HMRC, Dave turned from poacher to game-keeper, leaving HMRC to work within the accountancy profession
A qualified Chartered Tax Adviser, Dave has worked for two of the most well respected independent accountancy practices in the North-West. More recently, Dave has had the role of senior tax manager within a top 10 national practice.
Over the past 10 years, Dave has advised a wide range of personal and owner-managed business clients across all taxes.
Outside of the office, Dave has three young children that take up most of his spare time. Injury cut short his amateur football career (no great loss!) and he now coaches a youth football team.
After graduating with a degree in Mechanical Engineering from The University of Birmingham, Giles spent the following year as a part time chalet host and full time snow-boarder. Giles could not avoid the call of the accountancy profession any longer and started a training contract with Chadwick in Liverpool.
Giles soon qualified as a Chartered Accountant and was promoted to audit manager, a role he enjoyed. His strengths include building strong bonds with clients and acquiring an in-depth knowledge of their businesses which allowed him to provide valuable advice. Giles’ role has developed into being solely focused on providing a client specific service to businesses trading as sole traders, partnerships, LLP’s and companies.
Giles enjoyed working at Chadwick for nearly twelve years and gained vast experience in all areas of client service, technical advice and business planning.
Outside of the office, Giles has two young children that take up nearly all of his spare time. He eagerly awaits the time when he can return to the slopes with them.
